COURSE OBJECTIVE:

DZ Truck Driving Program is designed by highly qualified professionals to respond to ever-changing industry and its demands.  It provides students all necessary information required to get their DZ License Training. It includes advanced skills, in-depth driving techniques and comprehensive knowledge of the trucking industry including current regulatory Ministry of Transportation (MTO) standards.  Of course, this program also fully prepares you for the Commercial Driver Ontario DZ License examination and teaches you the skills you'll need to find employment in the trucking industry.

55 Hours Training, Breakdown: 40 Classroom Hours & 15 Hands-On In Vehicle Training

COURSE OUTLINE:
Pine ValleyDriving Academy curriculum employs modern technologies and ensures its students are trained in the following subjects;


Knowledge Skills:

  • The theory of Highway Traffic Act, including: Rules of the Road, Driver Licensing Legislative, Weights & Limitations, Hours of Service (Log Book), Pre & Post Trip Vehicle Inspections, Accident Procedures, Load Security, and Defensive Driving Techniques
  • Theory of Safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles equipped with Air Brake Systems.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Border Crossing Procedures, including documentation and border protocol.
  • Training for basic vehicle maintenance and instructions to diagnose and report malfunctions.
  • "Smart Driver Training" to maximize commercial vehicle fuel economy, and to safely operate vehicle or combination of vehicles.


Practical Skills:

  • 12 HOURS  one-to-one defensive driving training in a variety of spatial constraints; including traffic, weather and daylight conditions.
  • 3 HOURS  Technical driving maneuvers; including Use of Controls, Backing & Parking, Slowing & Stopping, Turns, Traffic Signs & Signals, Intersections, Grade Crossing, Passing, Speed, Pre & Post Trip Inspections and Load Securement Procedures.  Training for observational skills; including identifying hazards, handling of freight, emergency equipment, safe and defensive driving, operate vehicle in accordance with Highway Traffic Act. 


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Ontario Class 'G' License or higher
  • Knowledge verification of Rules of the Road and Signs
  • Grade 10 English or Equivalent
  • MTO approved Medical Form completed


ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATES INCLUDED:

  • Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
